14/05/18 VoteWatch analyses MEPs' positions on artificial intelligence

On May 8th, the VoteWatch organisation published an analysis of MEPs' (Members of the European Parliament) positions on artificial intelligence and robotics, in continuation of the resolution for an initiative adopted during the February 2017 plenary session. This analysis is based on the opinions of the different political groups on the own-initiative resolution adopted in plenary session in February 2017.

VoteWatch mainly examined the MEPs' points of view on the European artificial intelligence registration system, a tax on robots, the introduction of a universal income and a legal status for robots.

The European strategy has announced guidelines for the end of 2018 on ethics and interpretive orientations on the directive relating to liability for defective products, in an attempt to respond to concerns expressed on responsibility in this context.
